about

'type two' is an ode to all the truly sweet, steep and deep days backcountry skiing in the beautiful Canadian mountains of British Columbia with friends. More often than not, the majority of the fun is held in the memories of the struggle hiking up, and I wouldn't want it any other way. This song is for all of the friends that make the uphill journey so much more rewarding than the actual ski out.

'type two fun' is a saying in the ski community that refers to something that is somewhat miserable when its happening, but fun in retrospect. It is usually an adventure or objective that begins with the best intentions and then things just get carried away. This song is for all my friends who I've had the pleasure of skiing with in those not-so-desirable conditions, because in the end we're still rosy-cheeked and still somehow smiling.

lyrics

Times we've had are often so much better in our heads
'Type two' had me feeling dead

Savoury fun with all my sweetest friends that I love
Sometimes the suffering's enough

All this work just to break my bones
but the sticks and stones can be fun
Pocket snacks, I can't feel my toes
but the mountains bring me home

Thanks for sharing your candy, my cliff bar's frozen like a rock
This always happens, I just forgot

I've got Bengal Spice, it isn't much but it's hot
and somehow always hits the spot

Eight hours up for an hour-long run
We're not crazy, we're just havin' fun
Scared to death 'bout those cliffs ahead
but the snows fresh, so it's gettin' done

~

Scared to death 'bout those cliffs ahead
but the snows fresh, so it's gettin' done.

All this work just to break my bones
but the sticks and stones can be fun.

Eight hours up for an hour-long run
We're not crazy, we're just gettin'er done.

Pocket snacks, I can't feel my toes
but the mountains bring me home.
